I thought my lap was a bit sloppy, i then looked at my placing and i was first, i went back to pits to see i was 15 seconds faster than everyone else, after a split second thinking wow i'm fast i knew the game had gone horribly wrong, lol

Nice time, I am nowhere near there yet but I know my team mate is also in the 49's. Had my first 20 laps there last night and only got into the mid 51's so a long way to go yet but that was on the default setup.

Low 51s with the odd high 50 thrown in. This should be a good weekend, should get nice weather and that back straight should make for some nice slipstreaming

It's scheduled to be partly cloudy until around 7pm so fingers crossed for no deterioration.

Looking forward to this one, should be some decent racing around here.

Hoping I can get into the 49's but will settle for 50's at the moment.

Depending on how many of us there are it and as long as no one just runs off into the sunset the racing will be pretty close. Well, as long as I don't wipe the grid out again at the start any way

Re: Lap Times!!!

Post by Hammerpgh on Thu May 05, 2016 4:00 pm

Had another 20 laps at lunch time and got myself down to the low 51's. Should have been into the 50's but those damn AI wouldn't co-operate and kept getting in my way at the worst times lol

Another 30-60 minutes should be enough to see me get well into the 50's and hopefully 49's. I always need plenty of track time as opposed to setup time to get my times down to a reasonable level.

It's the end of the lap into and around Brooklands and Luffield that is costing me. Up by around 4/tenths consistently before that but tend to be losing it there.

Could probably bang out another 100 laps and get into the low 49's but 49.8 is where I sit. i don't think lap time will be all that important here, as long as you are close. This track is more like a medium to longish oval with the last turn ruining the party. lol. I ran with the 100% A.I. yesterday and they put up a good fight. You have to be very very careful with these cars, as you all know. I had to restart twice due to rear end take-outs. (Wish I had a triple screen). I had a great setup based off of Brands GP, but it needed some tinkering, esp. with the diff and the down-force. These cars are so well balanced I was afraid, but it helped stop the rear from stepping out after every high speed turn. Caution will be the key at the start though. If you can survive and stay on the lead lap (Peter's Specialty), you can probably podium.

Fast lap at 10:20. Race at 32:15

Re: Lap Times!!!

Before a Sunday race, I always give myself two 1 hour free practice session for tuning and lap times. That way, I don't spend my week continuously running laps. My best time was quick, but it doesn't mean it I will hit that time consistently and it doesn't mean I will win all three races this sunday. I will post my tune and my lap later on during the day.

Re: Lap Times!!!

Oh ok I'll be nice lol

Had my first practice race tonight against 100% AI same settings as we are using Sunday. Qualified on pole with nothing more than a 51.185 so AI could do with a bit of a boost really. I think in the open wheel category this tends to be a general problem in the game.  It would be  be great if they allowed us to go beyond 100% imo.

Race was led from start to finish gradually building up a comfortable lead that enabled me to make two little mistakes when trying to push to get that elusive 49 but still retain the lead.

Recording of the race here so feel free to critique the driving and if anyone has any advice especially on that final sector that I'm sure is keeping me from the 49's then please fire away...
