Saturday 30th September IndyCar Test 8:30 BST

Post by Guest on Thu Sep 28, 2017 4:19 pm

Hi all
This Saturday I’m going to open a lobby for some IndyCar practice and testing.
The venue will be Indianapolis and depending on the days weather will determine which layout we run.
It will be a private lobby and will be set up with the online license system on. So though it won’t be mega serious it’s not Days of Thunder either.

Nice lads.
This isn’t any thing official as such but gives us all a chance to figure a few things out setting wise. At the same time we should all be able to build upon our license points with out the mess of public lobbies.
Once the the poll results are in next week I’ll make a car/Number list and try and get people to commit to a number/engine.

You now have an online ranking. It goes up or down based on contact, offs, penalties, finishing position, number of finishers and rank of other finishers. An online lobby can be setup with or without the ranking system on, so if it's OFF your rank can't go up or down, but anyone can get into the lobby. If it's ON you can set how high or low you want the rank to be, so you can keep poorly ranked drivers out of your lobby. It seems to work very well so far.

Though some muppets have learned if they brake check you they can screw your points up.

That would be my worry with that sort of system. It was tried in another game I recall and caused problems with people struggling to join races when there rating was reduced fue to contact caused by others. Hope its more sophisticated here.

IRacing has a similar system to group drivers.

In iRacing private lobbies the rating system is suspended so as not to affect your public rating.

For club races I prefer internal club policing then any genuine accidents are not going to affect your public rating.  The drawback of this of course is that this rating will not increase either.

What will the club policy be about this switch?

I think it may be “on” but I may be wrong.
As it stands it will be with Indycar basically because we never had that many accidents any way so most guys most weekends I think would “rank up”

That’s great mate it’ll just be a rolling practice session. It’ll be nice to circulate with other cars.

Well, that sucked. We tried for an hour to get a lobby started, with no luck. I can't say I'm surprised, just disappointed. Multiplayer is useless.

That's a shame although unfortunately not surprising. What were the particular problems guys.. just not able to create a lobby at all or not able to get everyone in the same lobby?

We couldn't get everyone in. If we did,one or two would not show licenses, and would disconnect. Hurt's NAT setting changed to Moderate, for no apparent reason. Total shit show.

We had that issue Thursday night. The game is awsome.......when you get into lobby.......without a feedback bug........and without it freezing.......or some one else lagging out.
Lol
Will be great when they release a patch. Just hope it bloody works.

Sounds like a nightmare... clearly haven't learnt the lessons of 2 years ago.

The whole license thing has always bothered me tbh and seems to just be an uneccesary addition to the issues in an online experience that is struggling all round.

It’s a good idea in some ways but in other it’s a nightmare.
I’m going to get a Long Ethernet cable that I can run from the bedroom to the living room even if it’s just for official sessions in the hope it at least keeps my Internet stable and not to add to any issues that WiFi can do from time to time.
My biggest concern with multiplayer at the moment is you can’t add anyone once you’ve left the pits. It’s a bad idea and hope that get updated out of the game.
Once me and Micko got it was great fun and a hint of what it could be like once all the issues are straightened out.

You can mate.
The button to invite disappears once you leave the pits. However if you go to your friends list, find the guy you want to invite, click on them and then hit invite to game it works that way.
But yeah i dont know why the button disappears in game lol

yeah the Multiplayer portion of this game is as unreliable as the first game. I've heard of simular Shit shows with PRL trying to start a League too early. These things need to be Patched and tested until its bulletproof.
