NASCAR HEAT 2

Post by Rebel Whitey on Tue Sep 12, 2017 3:23 pm

Is NASCAR HEAT 2 available in the UK? I ran a few Cup laps at Daytona, and a Camping World Truck at Eldora (1/2 mile, dirt oval). I only ran in Quick Race, but on first impressions, NH2 will be much better than NASCAR Heat Evolution. Is there any interest in American Stock Car racing in the UK?

If it does come out over here I'd be up for it.

I have Evolution and was seriously not impressed. Bad handling and screen studdering. I feel like those of us who were duped into buying Evolution last summer should get a discount on 2.

I have got evolution after it was on sale on the xbox store. I was ok for a bit of fun but unless 2 is much better I won't be spending my money on it.

It's currently £60 as you have to order from the US

Yeah, I feel the same way about Evolution. Wasted money. I only ran a few laps late last night, so I can't report fully on physics yet. Felt better, but I may be optimistic because I really want a good NASCAR title. Camping World Trucks at Eldora is a blast. It may still be too Arcadey for some, as we tend to be a Sim focused group. I will be spending my day off, tomorrow, putting NH2 through the ringer. Oh yeah, I still need to run DSRL Rally Wales! Too much fun!

Let me qualify this opinion by saying, I'm a HUGE NASCAR FAN. Stock cars on a 1/3 mile, asphalt oval, was my first exposure to motorsports at 5 years old. I want to like NASCAR HEAT 2. NH2 is a video game for NASCAR fans who play video games. The ads showing Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano playing with controllers should be our first clue. Physics and lack of wheel support show a definite slant toward pad users. Tuning interface and characteristics are similar to Evolution. AI is better, as side by side racing is actually possible, but not perfect. Monster Energy Cup, Xfinity Series, and Camping World Trucks each have unique characteristics and appeal. Accepting NH2 for what it is, and not expecting a real Sim goes a long way in enjoying this title. I've had fun racing AI on ovals of all shapes and sizes, sticking with stock setups. Camping World Trucks at Eldora is a blast. Xfinity at Road America was a whole different story, and not a good one. I felt completely detached from the car. No road feel whatsoever, until turn in, then iffy at best. So bad I exited and stopped racing for the night. I will have fun with NASCAR HEAT 2, however I will satisfy my Sim addiction elsewhere.

That's a shame Rebel I sort of understand it as it sell units but it's a shame.
May be as sim racing grow and exports become more of a thing NASCAR may allow there licence to go to some thing like Pcars or Assetto even if it's a season or so behind.
I'll still be keeping a eye out for it as I love oval racing just don't really want to pay £60 for any game that I'll probably have to get DLC for as well.

So far, DLC is just skins and some graphics for customs. Meh.
