I'm glad you can finally force the racing line off. It was a distinct advantage in the Fog or Dark of Night, and also for people that didn't want to practice much.
yeah it is definitely good they have added that option in for more of a level playing field at night/ in the bad weather conditions. The line isn't a good way to progress racing ability much anyway.

Only 8-1/2 hours of work left.....
Watching all the Europeans on my friends list playing last night before I went to bed was such a tease. I was able to run a lap at the 'Ring just to give it a go before my early meeting this morning. I love how you can access all the setting while on track. Now only 1 long work day remains before I can dive in this evening. Cant wait!

I decided to try a car that I felt comfortable with, so I chose the Delara and right out the pits I noticed the front steering of the wheels is not symmetrical. And there are wheel problems again. Sort of a let down for me.

I spent a few hours on it, and it feels almost like pC1, but I’m going to write it all down, then delete my game save and start over from scratch.

Hope to see plenty of feedback on here. Most of what I have read so far is disappointing and nothing yet is making me regret deciding to cancel my pre-order and wait until the patches improve on the release version.

I nearly tweaked the other night and bought it, but only so I could go race ovals with Rich.... but as of yet I haven't seen anyone mention an oval :/

Rob who races the Indycar series with us has said the ovals are a mess right now so don't buy it expecting them to be right just yet. A lot of work required in a lot of areas it appears.

I have only 3 hours in so far, all in private testing, trying new cars/tracks, and adjusting seat positions. How anyone can "review" this title, after a couple of hours, is beyond me. There are cars that feel great out of the box. Some feel awful. Same with tracks. If I wanted everything to feel the same, I would buy FM7. Compared to PC1, user interface and handling is better. Graphics aren't perfect. Some weird wheel movements from some cars on start from pit. Tapped XBOX button, and wheel reset. No further problems. Having fun so far on ovals, but only in private testing.

ok so i got the game, drove a few laps with a couple of guys here and found a few problems.

1 - the g920 wheel and TX need a patch, ian bell announced there is one on its way.
currently the wheel is over sensitive and twitches left and right, you can try putting up your steering deadzone but this will not remove it fully.(console testing was outsourced and was done in a single month, lol)

2 - they have changed all tune settings even if the car is the exact same one in pcars 1 the tune is now unusable, that and a change in how you tune means many casual players will go back to forza where its easy to download tunes for cars meaning if you have lives you can still compete. this greatly lowers game life time, they have 7 days till F7 is out, needs to be fixed by then or many will go to that.
You no longer know how much fuel you need, you need to work it out yourself by lapping and using your brain, lol.

3 - Rain, its stupid, puddles now mean its un-drivable, you have no control when you go through a puddle and often end up on the grass or into a wall, the game says drive on the racing line and you will be fine, this is not true, AI cars do not have any trouble in the wet and drive through puddles without problem, try it and i bet you crash.

sadly though yet again they have not learnt from pcars 1, released it when its not ready.

Driven the rain.
Feels fine to me. Hitting puddles unsettles the car as it does on the road when you hit one at speed.
Its catchable though and easy enought. It will catch you out if your not expecting it. But that's the idea.
Feels great to me.

Same here.
Find the rain brilliant and far less of a switch compared to project cars when it would be bone dry then wet instantly. The puddle build up is great love the way for example the concrete and tarmac at Indianapolis road course react different to the water.

How are you guys finding the AI? I have yet to find any positive comments about them which is disappointing to say the least. A big step backwards seems to be the common theme.

I have started my career mode in Ginetta Juniors on 100 difficulty and agressivness set to 90.
They are fast as hell and I can race with them well.
Not really played a huge deal as im on only round 3. But The first 2 races iv loved.
Will be playing alot this week and see how it is in higher tiers.

show off....

im at about 50 difficulty, but as in the first game competitiveness varies from track to track and between classes..

looks like i'd be even further behind on this one.....so i'll probably stick to career mode.

Again no real problems with AI you just need to match them to the series your in.
I think a lot of guys are finding issues even if there’s not a great deal wrong and are ignoring issues with other games.

only managed one hour in game so far due to work but tried the dalara on indy
the car pulls left out of the box but checking the set up it has tottally different tyre pressures on each side
oval cars naturally pull to one side (anti clockwise track it will pull to the left this is true in real life )
never use a oval dalara on a road course
as for the steering it has a mind of its own until i pull out of the pits

My experience so far has been pretty frustrating to be honest. I mostly care for online racing against other people so I have been trying to get into some public lobbies since release but I have been randomly disconnected from 3/4 of all the ones I've joined for no apparent reason, usually just as I load in and exit the pit lane. The online lobby session indicator also rarely gives correct information, leaving you wasting time by loading into already underway races as a spectator, that were incorrectly labelled as being in L,P,or Q. When it does work out though, its been damn good to drive so I'm happy with the core mechanics of the game, just not the online state I suppose. The little amount of racing I've done against AI outside of career mode almost always seems to end in turn 1 crashes or epic pile ups unfortunately, the worst was Rouen in the formula X cars where about 6 AI somersaulted at turn 1 going in way too fast lol
Definitely still a much more complete and better feeling game than PC1 was on release despite some of the early issues, just hope they get on top of the online stability stuff ASAP so that league racing can go ahead.

The core improvements are great. The FFB and feel are so much better. I started in Cayman Cup because i couldn't do more Ginetta Jrs. The car feels great out of the box and I think the AI on 80% (50% aggression) is pretty damn good. The issues with the online lobbies Toast mentioned are annoying and it took me many tries to figure out that the session and time listed is not correct. There are also other stupid issues, like when you skip to end of session in career the AI get impossible times. This was corrected in a PC1 update, how could it make it back to 2? I'm pretty happy with it, and overall it's better than PC1 at release. It's just head shaking some of the stupid stuff thats wrong. It will get fixed. And the core that PC2 has to build on is much better than PC1.

Thanks for that info ! I learn something every day.

pC2 experience:
- Took a long time to fiddle with the FFB just to get it to feel good without clipping. Not sure which flavour I like best.
- Wheels have a sensitivity issue that is supposed to be fixed soon for the wobble.
- I put the Brake Sensitivity up to 70 to help with the brakes locking up so easily.
- The wheel calibration is just like it was in pC1, and I ended up with 400 just like in pC1 to make it feel right for me.
- For now it seems that tune set up files are not over-writing, I have to make a new file name to get it to actually save.
- Probably the worst for me is the graphics. Looked slightly better with the Post Processing Filter on. I noticed that whenever I select the telemetry in the HUD, the graphics get pretty bad. Also see a lot of horizontal lines flowing thru at various times and places.
- The cars sound great, and drive well as far as GT3 goes. I haven't had a chance to test many others.
Hoping the first patch comes sooner than later ! The wheel wobble is really annoying, even when minimized.

So....... Thursday night, poised, like a coiled spring, and off I went into the unknown.....and HOOOOORRRRAH for WMD in my books. Yes Yes there are bugs, but, show me a game that dos'nt?

I have to say hats off to them.... out the box great, FFB takes a little time to get it right... and for those who want to know my settings :-

Gain - 65
Volume - 58
Tone - 53
FX - 55
MSS - 0.05

Gave these to micko and he liked them.

Aaaannnyy way, first impressions, not dissimilar to AS.....which is great, lets face it, this is an upgraded PCARS 1.

Graphically great.

I found most of the cars, that ive driven, great to drive and handle, although ive spent quite a bit of time in the clio.....SSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun, Clio Cup.....bring it on!
Driving in the rain.....its a joy, driven in the Ginnetta Junior and clio and one of the RC cars and it was brilliant.

License, not quite figured how you gain and lose points..... but I love it and the penalty's on track, yeah its harsh, but its the same for everyone, which again is great.
However 37mph along the pit lane isn't...lol

Overall I think its a great game and think we will have some great racing.
